As a guest at Faith and Theology, Kim Fabricius has done some suburb theological reflection on the meaning(s) of marriage. I don’t, of course, agree with him on all points. And I suspect that as I continue to think about it, I’ll find that I disagree quite strongly on some points. But I’m glad to find this topic addressed with such grace and depth.
You might also read Halden’s treatment of Bonhoeffer’s “theology of romantic love” and Ben’s application of that to marriage. (Be sure to read the comments, too.)
A warning (of sorts): These posts includes some “heavy” theologizing, but I hope you won’t find that off-putting. Thinking requires hard work, and we can’t get around the need for that work.
